Respite Care Services ~ “Caring for those you love”

Respite care is generally defined as a “care-giving” service that provides a planned intermittent break from the ongoing responsibility of caring for a chronically disabled individual who is being managed at home.  This program is open to individuals 16 years of age and older.

What is the purpose of respite care?

The purpose of the program is to provide short-term relief and respite for persons who are providing continuing care for family members in the home.

What are the benefits of respite care?

The program offers a supervised, structured environment for the family member who may be experiencing physical and/or mild cognitive impairment as a result of the aging process or medical issues. For more information or to schedule a nursing assessment, please call 859-525-1128 ext. 239.

When is the respite care program open?

The program is offered one Saturday per month in the Adult Day Health area.  Please call 859-525-1128 for the schedule.

Hours of operation are 9:00am – 4:30pm, excluding major holidays.

What does the respite care program cost?

The cost is $13.25 per hour with a 4 hour minimum. Cash or check will be accepted at the beginning of the admission day. 

We do accept SCL, Michele P and HCB waivers. There is also some county funding available.

What should I bring?

Bring all medications in original labeled containers from the pharmacy, as prescribed by the physician.

Bring an extra set of clothes.

Bring any medical supplies or equipment used at home.

Some examples include:

  • Respiratory equipment/oxygen
  • Dressings
  • Catheters or continence pads
  • Tube feeding and related supplies
  • Wheelchair
  • Walker/cane
  • Splints/braces
  • Adaptive feeding utensils
